Weekly
Recaps |
|
Game 1
Neshaminy scored a TD on each of their first two
offensive plays. Georg Coleman and Andrew Flogel
each ran for over 100 yards and each scored (2)
rushing TD's in the first half. Georg Coleman also
ran back a first half kickoff 90 yards for a TD.
Neshaminy 42, Father Judge 0. |
|
Game 2
In a
much closer contest, Neshaminy had to rally from a
late 21-20 deficit to win this game. Kevin Kelly
kicked (3) field goals, including the game winner
with :37 to go in the game. Coleman rushed for 135
yards on 28 carries.
Neshaminy 23, Ryan 21. |
|
Game 3
The
first year CB South Titans gave the Redskins a
handful in the first half of this game. The
Neshaminy defense allowed 385 total yards to CB
South, but allowed only one touchdown. Georg Coleman
finished with 178 yards on 23 carries and two
touchdowns. Andrew Flogel threw a 57 yard TD pass.
Neshaminy 28, CB South 7. |
|
Game 4
Neshaminy won easily in this one as their offense
was beginning to show just how dangerous it was.
Georg Coleman scored two touchdowns along with 192
yards on 19 carries.
Neshaminy 45, Abington 7. |
|
Game 5
Georg
Coleman scored three first half touchdowns as
Neshaminy rolled to another easy victory and a 5-0
record. Truman (1-4) was overmatched offensively and
defensively as well.
Neshaminy 37, Truman 0. |
|
Game 6
The
Pennridge game was to be the real test of the best.
Both teams came into this game unbeaten and
Pennridge had the higher state ranking (2nd). The
Redskins left a mark that would last all season as
they rolled to an easy victory over the stunned
Rams. Coleman ran for 143 yards and scored twice,
while Jarred Kinney ran for 99 yards and a TD.
Jarred Kinney also had three interceptions.
Neshaminy 31, Pennridge 15. |
|
Game 7
After
coming off a strong win against Pennridge, the
Redskins looked lethargic in the first half against
the (2-3) CR North Indians. Early in the 2nd half,
Abe Brooks ran 1yd for a TD and Andrew Flogel hit
Doug Rosnick for another TD in the corner of the end
zone for a 14-0 lead. A blocked punt led to a Kevin
Kelly field goal and the game was in control.
Neshaminy 24, CR North 0. |
|
Game 8
The
second big test came in week 8 against former state
champions, North Penn. NP came into the game with a
5-2 record, losing only to Pennridge and Cardinal
O'Hara. North Penn took a quick lead on several long
Adam Hearn passes for TD's. The Redskins never gave
up and in the closing seconds on 4th and 17, Georg
Coleman went up against 3 defenders and brought down
the ball on the 1 yard line for a first down. Two
plays later the game was tied and headed for
overtime. Neshaminy scored first and took a 7 point
lead. NP scored on their third attempt and decided to go for
a 2 point conversion. Peter Stoll took the ball into the end zone for
the
two point conversion and a one point game win.
Neshaminy 30, North Penn 31 (OT). |
|
Game 9
Shaking off the overtime loss, the Redskins got back
on track and won easily against Bensalem. Andrew
Flogel completed 9 of 11 passes for 107 yards and a
TD. Coleman had 130 yards on 22 carries and added
two TD's of his own. The win clinched a Redskin playoff
berth for the third time in 4 years.
Neshaminy 24, Bensalem 7. |
|
Game 10
The
Redskin, Falcon rivalry was supposed to rise up and
produce another close classic. Not this year. The
8-1 Redskins were too much for (6-3) Pennsbury in an
easy win to close out the regular season. This was
the Redskins 4th shutout of the season and Flogel
had another strong game completing 8 of 11
passes for 125 yards. With the win, Neshaminy earns at least a
share of the Suburban One National title.
Neshaminy 35, Pennsbury 0. |
|
Game 11
The
first playoff game of 2004 saw Neshaminy having to
play CB West at home. Having lost only once before
at War Memorial Field, CB West thought tradition
would give them the edge. It did not. Neshaminy had
an answer for everything West tried and scored the
game winner with 2:02 to go. Georg Coleman scored
three TDs along with 195 yards on 24 carries.
Neshaminy 38, CB West 34. |
|
Game 12
The
fans at this game saw one of the greatest comebacks
in High School football. Neshaminy marched the
opening drive down the field with ease, only to get
stopped and have to settle for a field goal. That
would be it for a while as the Redskins could not
get their offensive drives in motion. Trailing 20-3
with under a minute to play in the third, the game
looked lost. Andrew Flogel threw touchdown passes to
Coleman and Jason Kinney to bring the Redskins to
within 20-16 with just over 8 minutes left in the
game. Chris Daino recovered a fumble forced by
Jarred Kinney and two minutes later Dominick Cundari
scored the go ahead touchdown. A second forced
fumble enabled the Redskins to control the clock,
and the game.
Neshaminy 23, Coatesville 20. |
|
Game 13
This
game was a defensive coordinators nightmare. The two
teams combined for 85 points on a real shoot out.
Georg Coleman had five touchdowns on 285 yards, the
most productive game of his career. His performance
was offset by NP junior Peter Stoll who had a
monster game of his own. In the end, Neshaminy
scored all of their points on the first and fourth
periods and it was enough to win over a determined
NP team. With the win the Redskins claimed their 2nd
District One title in 4 years.
Neshaminy 51, North Penn 34. |
|
Game 14
The
Redskins went up against undefeated Easton and their
famed defense that had not allowed more than 14
points in a game all season. That didn't faze
the Redskins, or their Sophomore quarterback, one
bit. Although the redskins thoroughly outplayed the
Red Rovers in every category, the one that mattered
most, the score, remained close. It took a Flogel
pass to George Coleman with 35 seconds left in the
game to seal this one. Neshaminy reached the Easton
25 yard line 8 times but only were able to score 3
times.
Neshaminy 21, Easton 14. |
|
Game 15
Going
into the state title game, Neshaminy was again the
underdog against undefeated, and nationally ranked,
Pittsburgh Central Catholic. This time, there was
nothing the Redskins could do. Pittsburgh dominated
both sides of the ball and rolled to an easy 49-14
win. The Redskins had trouble getting out of their
own backfield against a swarming defense, and PCC's
Eugene Jarvis scored 5 times.
Neshaminy 14, PCC 49 |
