Skins go to 4 and 1
Neshaminy 34 - Truman 0
Never mind that Friday night's game against the
Truman Tigers marked the midpoint of the season.
As Neshaminy carved out a convincing 34-0 win,
they did it with a number of firsts.
-
It was the first game back for Senior
running back Kitt Anderson.
-
Anderson scored his first touchdown of the
season.
-
Already at game 5, Neshaminy played their
first game away from the Ridge 2006.
-
The Redskins posted their first shutout of
the season.
-
It was the first game delayed at halftime by
a security threat.
It was good to see Kitt Anderson back in the
lineup and he had an immediate impact with some
nifty running, 84 total yards and a 3rd period touchdown. Meanwhile, Jason Ulmer
had another huge game punishing Truman tacklers
as he drove and churned on every run, making the
yards succumb to his strong legs. With Andrew Flogel being another scoring threat, the 'Skins
were able to use a very well balanced attack,
getting points from four different players.
Neshaminy got touchdowns from Jason Ulmer (2),
Andrew Flogel, Ryan Evans and Kitt Anderson.
It's a nice predicament for Coach Schmidt to be
in - he has more good ball handlers than he knows what
to do with.
As good as the 'Skins offense is proving to be,
this shutout was not without a stellar effort by
the defense. Neshaminy's Dee boys closed in on
the Truman runners quickly all night, forcing a lot
of 3rd and long situations that could not be
converted. The Tigers running game was
contained all night by a 'Skins defense, led by
Roland Wensae, that seemed to know where the
ball would go on every play. The defensive
effort was capped of with an interception by
Austin Dahn who cut through the field then
streaked down the right side 50 yards to the
Truman one yard line. Two plays later Ulmer
pushed the ball over the goal line.
