Welcome to Great Neshaminy Moments.

December 2004. Like a newly formed planet that is cooling off and giving off steam, NeshaminyFootball.com was born in late 2004. It was empty and chaotic. It needed a sense of purpose. It needed life. It needed synergy.

Feeling like I had started something that I could not finish, I was asking myself "what the heck were you thinking, this is way over your head". Little did I know how quickly all of that would change, because out of the cosmos came Bruce Traney. It was a name that I was not familiar with, but also, it was a name I will never forget. Bruce and I began to forge the foundations of what we have today on this website. NeshaminyFootball.com is what it is because of a unique working partnership that I am proud to be a part of.

NeshaminyFootball.com is a direct result of Bruce and I working together to bring all of what you see here. To be even more specific, the Great Moments section of this website is a result of me wanting to preserve history & Bruce knowing how to do it. Our skills compliment each other, and never compete. I am the technical guru of what you see here and Bruce provides all of the writing, color and flare.

As you browse through these 50+ Neshaminy Great Moments, be sure to know that Bruce Traney is the driving force behind all of them. Every summer, Bruce would send me a full season of Great Moments. Bruce left nothing to my imagination. Bruce would email me the story (as a Word document), the lead-in, the editor's note, and all of the necessary pictures. Bruce would even tell me which picture went where in the story.

If you appreciate reading through 80 years worth of Neshaminy Great Moments, send a thanks to Bruce Traney for interrupting his life & work to make all of these possible. Thank You Bruce Traney!

Neshaminy’s “Great Moments”

Langhorne: Wow – can you believe it’s been over six years since Bob posed the following question: “Neshaminy has enjoyed so many great moments over the years, isn’t there some way we can highlight some of them for the fans?” Of course, the answer was a simple “yes, Bob, there is.” And that’s how the “Great Moment” series was born. And although it may not have been exactly clear how it would play it out, there’s no doubt now that the series has worked out just fine and dandy, thank you.  In fact, all any fan has to do is click over to the “Notable Teams, Coaches and Eras” section (on the drop down menu along the top line in the “History” section) and there it is in first position, the “Great Neshaminy Moments” section (and you can CLICK HERE and take a look if you haven’t seen it for some reason but then make sure you come back to finish this little story after you cruise the Index and see all the terrific “stuff” that has been put together over there).

Okay, now that you’re back, here’s the latest; after those six years, and 52 separate “Great Moments”, Bob has decided we need to devote a little time to some other projects (some of the “Big Picture” stories on Neshaminy’s legendary coaches, for instance). What that means is that we’re going to take some time off from the “Great Moments” and catch up on all those other piles of articles and scrapbooks scattered around our desks. Not that there aren’t plenty more of them (“Great Moments”) to write about - and plenty more being created each year too - but Bob feels we need to square away some of the other deserving off-season “To Do” pursuits (so that’s what we’ll be doing as Bob is the Big Kahuna on Neshaminy football dot com and what he says is how it goes).

In the meantime, we hope you’ll continue to read and look over what has been completed to date (and enjoy each of these little jewels which give such great insight into those important games, events and other occurrences that have collectively helped build the tremendous history and tradition that is at the core of Neshaminy football). And I might add here that so far we’ve covered some of Neshaminy’s greatest moments over the last 83 years ranging from the first game ever played in 1928 right on through to the 2004 Eastern Championship contest against Easton (with 50 more wedged in between so that no coach, era, player or team that should be singled out has been missed). And there’s more on the board for consideration so keep an eye out as you’ll be seeing more “Great Moments” down the road – both on the field and on the site.
