November 3rd, 1985 was quite
a night on Heartbreak Ridge.
The 5-0 Neshaminy Redskins
were playing a home game
against the Abington
Galloping Ghosts.
It was much more than
your typical midseason home
game. It was also "Senior
Night". That wasn't a
discount for those over 65,
it was an opportunity to
honor the Senior players and
cheerleaders.
Oh yea, this was also the
night that the stadium at
Heartbreak Ridge was
dedicated to, and renamed,
"Harry E. Franks" stadium.
And just in case that
wasn't enough excitement,
this was also the first Hall
of Fame night. The vision of
Harry E. Franks had become a
reality.
No less than 10 men were
inducted into the hall of
fame that inaugural evening,
and the 'Skins won 28-0. |
