Neshaminy Football Hall of Fame has refurbished and expanded

the existing wall and adding a statue in front of the wall

of the legendary coach John Petercuskie, Sr.

With the help of Matt Takita, from the firm of Architectural Management Inc of Bensalem, plans were drawn up. The accompanying pictures are the architect’s designs of the final project. The bricks surrounding the wall, front and back, are going to be commemorative bricks. These bricks are available for purchase to anyone. The premium bricks in front of the wall, surrounding the statue are $125.00. All remaining bricks are $100.00. In order to have your engraved brick in place by dedication day September 19, 2010, you should order now!

The life-sized bronze statue of Coach John Petercuskie, by local renowned sculptor, Jim Gafgen of Morrisville, Pa., will be dedicated on September 19,2010, at Neshaminy High School at 1:00 p.m. at Harry E. Franks Stadium. A buffet will follow. The dedication is open to everyone at no cost. A ticket must be purchased for the buffet.

This project is being funded totally by tax-deductible contributions from people who are supporters of Neshaminy High School. Donations are greatly appreciated and still are needed to accomplish this goal.

New “Wall of Fame” dedicated

Langhorne: In what was nothing less than a “Who’s who” of Redskin luminaries and stars, the newly refurbished “Wall of Fame” just outside the entrance to Harry E. Franks Memorial Stadium was officially dedicated this Sunday, September 19th. And with current and former players & coaches, fans, friends, families, kids and Moms & Dads on hand for the festivities, it was a terrific afternoon.

First unveiled in the mid-1980s, the “Wall of Fame” was built to serve as a very public and important display of the many players, coaches and others who have contributed so much to Neshaminy’s football program since its first season of 1928. With the first year class of 1985 seeing ten members admitted to the football “Hall of Fame”, the list now contains approximately 200 names representing the best of 83 years of Redskin football. But with the brick and concrete structure having begun to show its age, the “Hall of Fame” committee set to work a few years back to design and raise money for the $130,000.00 refurbishment project. And the result of their hard work and effort is now available for all to see.

Beside the updated brick work, the “tiles” that feature the names of the inductees were replaced while the structure was expanded to include a beautiful plaza complete with the “N” logo of Neshaminy, flag pole and sitting area. Most prominently too is a bronze statue of John Petercuskie which will stand as a symbol of the many great men who have coached Langhorne’s “Boys of Fall” for so many years now. So be sure to stop by and take a long look at the “Wall of Fame” when you’re next by the stadium complex and pause to remember how much the players, coaches, staff and others have given to us fans over the last eight decades.
